Apart from a few laggards, the companies that comprise the index on which this ETF is based have low relative debt, decent cash flow, and lots of room for growth. They may not trounce the performance of the S&P, but odds are they will do better during the prolonged recession and eventual recovery.

This is a nondiversified etf that invests in internet stocks. The index is designed to include only companies whose primary focus is Internet-related. To be eligible for inclusion in the index a company must generate at least 50% of its revenues from Internet commerce or services and must be currently included in the Dow Jones U.S. Index. It's holdings include:Akamai,Ebay,Amazon, ETrade,Google, Monster, Verisign, and Yahoo. At this writing, the fund was doing well at staying above and/or keeping up with the S&P. It looks way too solid to call it "underperform", but it'll be close. I'm going with thumbs up.
