UPS and the Teamsters will take down fedex. The Teamsters, Congress, and the Courts will allow it to be a fair playing field for UPS.

This company executes customer service horribly compared to UPS

Friday's news was not unexpected and already priced-in. Should be at 105-110 range for the short term, and estimate 10-15 points per year growth as internet sales continue to increase (how do you think retailers get their goods to customers?) domestically and internationally.
Recs
getting hit by slowdown in economy. but with the web folks will buy remotely more and more over time. i think they'll increase the efficiency of their fleet with hybrid diesels and newer planes too.
Recs
Fuel costs and a slow holiday season predicted.
Recs
Diversified company and solid. Will remain a major player in its game.

Even with slower paced growth, FDX has grown margins consistently (Net Income as a % of Sales has gone from 3.0% in 2001 to 5.7% in 2007) by taking advantage of economies of scale and reducing costs. They are best positioned to grow in China - operating 30 flights a week into China (more than any other operator) and plan to expand service from 220 to 320 cities over the next 5 years. Trailing PE is 15.8, while net income has had a 15% CAGR over the past 10 years.

Can you name more than 3 competitors?

Due to rebound...................

Solid Stock.

This stock has been disappointing in 2007 as far as share price goes. There.
Everything else I see is positive. FedEx is (to me) the best-managed shipping/courier company around, it has non-union drivers with whom it has good relations, it's benefiting from more open and free trade worldwide, and it's very well-managed.
I expect it to consistently outperform the market for the long haul. This one's a keeper.
Recs
it's been disappointing so far this year. But in long term, very few have a business as solid as this one.
Recs
Undervalued blue-chip that is benefiting greatly from growth in free trade worldwide.
Plus, the company will benefit smartly from the coming collapse in energy prices during 2008, to help the Repbulicans in the important election next year.
Strong balance sheet and cash flow, terrific management, few liabilities, and low P/E around $100 per share.

fedex is revamping it california operation, over 25% of its drivers our direct ship carriers.it is propossing adding other stops to their runs along with increasing their other drivers routes.the fedex union for drivers estimates this will add 3 million dollars in annual driver wages collectively. fedex has wisely negotiated it fuel contract.if drivers accept the increased work proposal and pay increase.it will likely spread acrossed the country .buy

Initially bought Fedex 10 years ago - my thinking was that somebody had to deliver all those packages from internet shopping:-) UPS was not public then and I would mnever invest in USPS even if I could. Anyway, it was one of the best investments I have ever made and I am sitting on a very large capital gain. I got to read about FDX more over the years and I am very impressed with the culture and the management. They write their own software and employ more programmers than any other company outside IT industry. Now, they are moving more into logistics management and will be one of the main beneficiaries of the boom in East and South Asia. This is a great long term investment as ll the investments made now by the company will bear fruits over the next decade. So, I plan on holding on for another decade.

Officially, FedEx, UPS and DHL are all in competition with each other, but while UPS is asking you what Brown can do your you, FedEx is out there pounding the pavement and doing it. I especially like the commitment of the company, whose operations necessarily consumes large quantities of pollution pumping fuel, to pursue green technologies. May its fleet soon be composed entirely of hybrid trucks.
Recs
Gaining market share and positioned for greater e-commerce growth
Recs
Still run by the original founder. With the growth of online shopping, FEDEX is positioned to only grow larger and better.
Recs
nothing negative to say about FDX. Can't beat it for a solid buy and stock--let the grandchildren reap the fortune.
Recs
They just can't keep up with UPS. Ups has over 60% of the internet business. Fdx keeps undercutting prices to try and compete. In the end they will fall short.
