earnings growth is too slim to justify the 20+ P/E

The company is focused on increasing recurring revenue and decreasing expenses. They have managed to weather the storms of the last few years and will continue to do so through management that has proven to be successful. I work for a division of this company and have seen first hand the results of this dedication.

Buffet pick

Solid company that handles banking transactions fro most banks. A solid service that should be unaffected by the uncertainty in the financial industry. The are the back office of finance operations. Which, are in an increasing demand and vital to the industry.

lackluster product releases of late. Had a good run up but this is not an innovative company right now.

I work for a bank and FiServ is our main financial partner (and have been for many years). They have excellent services and products that make the life of a small bank much easier.
The one downside is their products incompatibility with IE 8. We are still stuck on 7 and they are the only reason why.

Buffet is buying 8/2010

Names and news move stocks when things are tight. Buffet's interest and resources make a good arguemt for this investment.

When Warren Buffett says jump, I say how high.

I admit, no research I've done, just following Mr. Buffet.

If Warren is buying I'm in.

I picked this company based off of valuation backed up by stable cash flows from recurring revenue sources. The company should enjoy profitable growth as more banks outsource more business functions and as the company adds more cross-selling opportunities by offering a greater range of services.

Part of my 11 o'clock stock pick experiment

I've used Fiserv as a previous CAPS pick and continue to like what's going on there. Fiserv is a hugely diversified financial company, owning numerous businesses that service every aspect of the financial realm. I personally, own stock and work for a Fiserv company -- in the automotive side of their service business. In my case, we strategically mitigate the potential losses of a bank's automotive portfolio. It's no mystery that the economy is struggling and as times are tough, auto reposessions continue to rise. In the current recessionary economy, banks, credit unions and similar will be looking to ease their portfolio and accnt. servicing pains -- this is exactly what Fiserv does, and does well. The company's diversity and breadth of unique in-house businesses continues to increase. I like FISV at these current levels (being $32 as I write this) and would look to the long-term on this play. Looking forward perhaps 24mo+ before we're back to near $55-$60 levels. Fiserv's good history of buybacks and stock-splits is positive. The need for Fiserv-style services is only going to increase as we begin to dig ourselves out of these difficult economic times and I look forward to being onboard when we do!
