I own some of this stock with real money and feel pretty strongly about it. It's a major player in making infrared and imaging equipment for government and commercial applications. Because of the continuous war on terrorism, it's likely to benefit for years to come from this trend. It's products are very price competitive, so they have been very well received in the marketplace. The company enjoys a high growth rate relative to it's price. At this time the P/E ratio is approximately equal to its growth rate, usually a very good sign for future prospects.

FLIR is the leader in infrared imaging technology. As the cost of this technolgy continues to decrease the adoption of their technolog/products will continue to increase and be seen in applications that were previously cost prohibative. With such a vast range of uses for this techology; defense, security, aviation, automotive, health (swine flu), etc FLIR will continue to have superior sales growth something many compays will have trouble with over the next 2-3years.

I like FLIR's consistency and growth potential. There seems to be long-term demand for its products across multiple industries. The recent deal with India was nice but what really caught my eye is that the company actually posted a decent (6.5%) increase in year-over-year second-quarter revenue. Not many companies can say that in this economy. Seems most preface their earnings with "given the current economic turmoil", not boasting of a revenue increase from last year.

I work on a daily basis with FLIR products, for Force Protection. Now that FLIR technology has become more widespread on the Battlefield, Commanders will NEVER give this capability up. It's like going back to the days before the cellphone.
