In Prem Watsa I trust. His best performance ever was in the 08-09 financial crisis, and since then the stock has hardly moved. Prem has his equity portfolio 100% hedged, so it may be another couple years of minimal returns while the mo-mo market continues, but I trust him not to lose money in the meantime (they write insurance at a profit), and be well positioned so that when the inevitable sentiment shift happens we stand ready to reap large profits.

This stock will outperform the S&P 500 in the long run. This is shown naturally in graphical data of the S&P. Though most Components of the S&P fluctuate the index up.

This is an excellent company. The insurance companies took a hit last year due to the large amount of natural disasters, so the stock is undervalued. This makes it even more undervalued

I like Fairfax here. An improving insurnace business that will eventually have some tailwinds in pricing. A smart investor never hurts and I like their chances vs. the S & P 500 over the next several years.

Similar ideal to Berkshire (and leucadia and merkel (sp?). Currently hedging his investments. Returns for next quarter are already built in.

Prem Watsa is a smart man who has consistently smoked the S&P. Canadian company is well positioned globally.

Run by one of the most conservative players in the business, Fairfax is among the best-hedged insurance firms (nearly 90% of the portfolio is hedged), making it a fine long-term investment. Not all of Watsa's picks pan out immediately, but they tend to work out long term, as his prescient and enormously profitable call on the housing market showed. More recently, his selling of the Russell 2000 at an average price of 650 hurt last quarter's returns, but it may work out as the market is beginning to fall in 2011.

What gives? Fairfax sells below book.

This is the same company run by the guy, Prem Watso, who made a $1 billion dollar bet against housing and won.

This in the middle of a bull market in which crap stocks like Biglari Holdings trades at a huge premium to book?

To sum it up; Prem Watsa.

Value is there too.. FFX is undervalued relative to Berkshire and AFLAC based on BV

Outperforming the S&P over a long-term investment horizon should be a no brainer.

-Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (Public, TSE:FFH)
Stability: ****

Found via Seeking Alpha member "Tim Ayles"

My Opinion:
This is one of the best financial company I can think of...
FairFax is exceptionally strong, high quality financial company. This is a "Hedge Company" -- like a hedge fund, but traded on a stock exchange available for the retail investors.

Their leader, Prem Watsa is the "Warren Buffett of Canada".

Just because it sells at a "Pink Sheets" in the U.S usually turns me away, but this one is a Canadian company listed in Toronto Stock Exchange. Also it's $9 Billion dollar valuation makes it a big one.
FairFax is 3-in-1: Holding + Insurance + Hedge Fund.

3rd Party Analysis:
Just One Stock: 'Canada's Warren Buffett', Fairfax Financial Holdings: (3.10.2010)

At about $400/share it is a quality play at a reasonable price.

Two reasons:
1) Undervalued by 50% or so.
2) The Canadian Warren Buffett runs it.
