CEO Matt Ouimet spent 17 years at Disney. I'm sure he'll bring some of the magic to Cedar Point, America's best amusement park and the roller coaster capital of the world. And while you wait...have a juicy dividend.

Strong dividend and strong free cash flow. I think the amusement parks will continue to see more and more people at the gates for the short and medium term (year to three years).

This is my bull given its going to be summer despite what they say in game of thrones of winter be a coming...

Cedar Pointe is a big money maker and with people maybe not necessarily being able to go to say their dream vacation well if you have kids who love rollercoasters you could splurge and perhaps stay at their hotels on the premises...

Fun has a decent yield and they have built a new coaster......

Let the fun begin...

Sincerely.

This company pays a huge dividend, planning $2.50 in distributions for 2013. While the debt position is scary, it has no obligation to pay debt until 2015, and it is generating the cash flow necessary to further pay down debt, increase park attractions, and pay the dividend. The new CEO, Ouimet, is a former Disney exec, knows the industry, and developed a growth strategy that I believe is currently being executed well, and will continue its execution in the future.

Dividend will increase to over $2 per share in 2013. People who cannot afford expensive vacations will go to local amusement parks instead.

Not only is the geographic diversity here amazing, Cedar Fair has also been paying a dividend since 1988 that typically ranged from 6-13% depending on the earnings power that year. It was cut in 2010 but is now back with a massive 13% yield. Management expects to keep the dividend around 9%. Over a 30 year period, I’m betting FUN will increase 5 fold. If you want to see an investment absolutely kill the market and grow massive wealth, take a 6-13% yielder and reinvest those dividends for 30 years in a tax deferred account like a Roth IRA or ESA. That’s what I’m doing with Cedar Fair. Ever just make the minimum payment on a credit card and wonder why the balance always stays the same? Be on the other side of that card. I get the benefits of credit card like interest rates with the fun of learning and following the amusement park business.

Amusement parks have two huge “moats.” The first being their land and when they purchased it. Amusement parks typically start out on inexpensive, unwanted farm land. If the park succeeds, the land around it becomes very valuable. When Walt Disney just announced the development of Disney World in Florida, real-estate values practically tripled over night. The second is they are extremely immune to becoming obsolete from technological competition. It’s going to take Matrix-like, jack-the-brain in virtual reality technology to get the amusement park experience at home and make them obsolete. Kinnect Disneyland Adventures is incredible, but it’s still not preventing me from going to Disneyland next year. If anything, it’s making me want to go there more. Like an incredibly immersive commercial.

Hat tip to Jim Royal for finding this amusement park MLP (strange huh?) that expects to significantly increase its dividend over the next several years. I love finding companies that have hidden huge dividends. Uncle Warren used to like this type of situation as well as the increase usually leads to a substantial gain in the stock when it becomes evident.

CF parks aren't going anywhere, what, with Cedar Point as their anchor. I like them a lot better than Six Flags. They'll be shedding Paramount's Great America within 2 years and they'lll be left with nothing but decent properties. Complain about Kinzel all you want, he's decent.

Cedar Fair management is severely out of touch and is wrapped up in their own interests. Unitholders have lost dividends and perks. Prices for consumers have gone up as there has been no economizing. Quality of life for employees has consistently declined as evidenced by ratings and commentary on review sites, etc.

I discovered that Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, owner of Silver Dollar City and other parks, has a much more proactive, responsive management strategy. They are privately owned.

It's not so much that I think FUN will perform better than the S&P as I think the S&P will perform worse than FUN.

I expect to see FUN remain relatively flat as the S&P undergoes a correction.
