Fairway definitely needs to figure out how to get into positive earnings but it's brand and customer experience in NYC is incredibly strong. They are close to completing a central facility that should support up to 30 stores and have a growth strategy of about 2 new stores per year. The IPO obviously opened way too high but I still think this is a solid long term bet.

Very small footprint in the Northeast that has room to expand. This concept is a hybrid of a poor man's Whole Foods and typical grocery store. I hear raving reviews about Fairway that keep customers returning.

im in on this one @ 19 bucks. Love the co, always have. from NYC. WFM was not known as well in NY either. I went to visit some family in FL and loved the experience, sure enough its GLOBAL... WFM doesnt look like its gonna quit either. I think FWM is obviously a competitor but people will continue to enjoy this experience. I personally shop in both FWM and WFM and not only because I am a shareholder in both co's. I am keeping this one for the long term while moving my stops protecting my profits so i can play with other companies. this is a core company for me although its unproven i think it will be a phenomenal performer through the years; especially once they roll out expansion.

Have a look at the S-1: http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/AMDA-18YW4H/2462422316x0xS1047469-13-4387/1555492/filing.pdf
* R/E deficit.
* C/F opns negative.
* Real estate owned by related parties with lease resets that could just suck money out of the company.
* More cash sucked on redemption of preferred stk.
* 35% of assets are intangibles.
* Declining revenue per square foot of retail space.
Probably even more in the S-1 to warn one away.
FWM could turn out to be another over-expanding retailer that fails when it goes too far. The world is full of them --Filene's Basement, Topps, Barneys, Circuit City, FAO Schwarz, others.

My guess -- FWM will be run into the ground by 2020, and the Glickberg family will take it private again for a song.

I think this is the next Whole Foods. They get lots of buzz from locals, love shopping there myself! 12 locations now with a plan to open over 300.
