The sale of GE Capital, an enormous buyback of its cheaply valued stock, and a headfirst dive into the industrial Internet give plenty of growth catalysts to this underperforming company. With an almost four percent yield on top of that I expect to see GE outperform over the next several years.

There are some nice industrial conglomerates in Europe who need to shed to remain viable. A nice cash pile and refocus on industrial diversification could prove to be timed just right for struggling behemoths elsewhere.

Berkshire probably forced GE to do the right thing.
The $90 billion it intends to return to investors includes a $50 billion stock buyback that ties Apple for the biggest share repurchase ever in the history of the market.

40% increase in wind turbine orders, and orders for jet engines continue to grow also. Room for solid growth.

Catchup... GE is going to be 'catching up' to where they should be, and will certainly show off better than the past few years with their streamlined approach and focus on energy infrastructure.

The stock trades at a relatively low value when compared it's peers and I think it will have sig areas of growth including the industrial internet. You are paid well from the dividend while you wait

GE's oil and gas division should be boosted by the changes in the shale oil industry to reduce natural gas flaring. They are also restructuring to simplify their business, which should reduce some of the volatility as well.

Almost like buying an index fund, but not quite. Nonetheless, GE's not going anywhere, and eventually that'll prove positive for its stock price.

Two words: Turbine Engines. No matter what form of power you use to generate electricity you ultimate need a turbine engine to convert the raw power into electricity.

GE is involved in many important growth markets - energy, water purification, 3D printing, etc. In addition, they pay a nice dividend.
