Massive debt to be refinanced at higher rates will eat up profits.

GE has a few positives going for it including political friends and size, but beyond being to big to fail it is not too big to lose money. Its size and multiple business ventures, including financial, has created a C size problem. Economies of scale don't really work when a company become bloated and inefficient. Hiring people for the sake of hiring and firing others for the same reason appears to be the only justification for a large HR department. The company has become like another government bureaucracy, which is better at spending money than making money. In the short run it may benefit from this recent stock market rally, but long-term its more likely to look like California, great potential but poor performance.

GE is a great pioneering company, I am bullish long term but short term they're not profitable, and in addition to that I believe we are entering a new bear market, I expect unemployment numbers to go up again this friday, the job situation is a lot worse now than it was in march and look how much we've rallied since then. I think we are overbought in general. This is a great time to take profits off the table....companies are still laying people off I can't imagine spending being above analysts expectations this holiday.

GE Capital is a hornets nest that will be more then enough to drag this company's results down for years to come relative to the rest of the market.

Industrial demand also continues to dissappoint for their manufactured goods and I suspect we are a long ways away from demand equilibrium.

This firms underperformance over the next few years is going to surprise a lot of people, I think.

GE is ready for its next leg down. Most of its non-financial business lines are in areas that have been hard hit by the general economic downturn, and the financial business is a disaster waiting to happen. As the market begins a new down-leg, GE should lead the way down.

It seems to me that there ought to be a huge bunch of investor lawsuits coming based on their earnings fraud. A few million dollars might keep the SEC happy, but it doesn't even put a dent in the real amount of damages to investors who relied on their fraudulent financial statements. Their auditors should also be sued out of existence.

This should also be remembered as a huge stain on the legacy of Jack Welch. He's been quick to criticize Immelt (who I have no respect for and think would make a good cellmate for Jack), but let's revisit some of the criticism in the new light of fraudulent financial statements. "When you promise earnings, you have to deliver." Easy to say when you simply make up a bunch of godd*mn lies and substitute this work of fiction for the required financial reports. F*ck you, motherf*cker! Burn in h*ll!
