We may be having problems in Real Estate over here in the good ole' USA, but there are no problems in the real estate market over in Brazil. Plus they have been around for over 50 years. Brazil is HOT! (No pun intended.)

Major player in residential real estate (houses, condos, etc.) in Brazil. Mortgage market for middle class is new development in Brazil supporting strong growth. ADRs new to market this year. Sam Zell was early investor. He sold some at a huge gain in FEB 07 but still owns 14%. (No, I don't think they have a subprime market in Brazil.)

Young population with rising income. Net exporter of energy with new oil finds will keep the currency stable. And the economy is more diverse than just commodities. GDP composition is 8% agriculture, 38% industry, 54% services. Falling interest rates. Large aerospace industry.

Brazil, it seems to me, is the most fruitful location for the construction business in the next 4-5 years. Gafisa is one of the largest of the construction companies doing a great amount of low to middle class residential construction and, I feel, therefore a safe bet for profits.
