Gruma S.A.B. de C.V. (GMK)

CAPS Rating:
*****

The Company is a corn flour and tortilla producer and distributor.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

I believe Gruma is the dominant player in the tortilla industry in the US that is enjoying fabulous growth due to demographics (growth of Mexican food popularity and Hispanic population) and is the hands down leader in corn flour in Mexico (75% market share) that is the primary input for tortillas. ...More

Reasonable debt to equity, good p/e to eps growth, good revenue growth, low end of last 52weeks and consistently profitable.

I simply used the screener to find all of the 5 star stocks with the greatest 52-week losses. 5 stars should make them good picks and the high 52-week loss should make them cheap. We’ll see how it works!

Low p/b and Mexicans like to eat Mexican food, just like everybody else.

As with all my picks: A very attractive P/E, excellent EPS growth rate and high five year growth prospects.

Tortilla's, corn flour and wheat, not fancy but a staple in the markets where the company operates. Multiple oversea's, america's markets with large populations of consumers that will continue to buy there product. Acquisitions in the last few years have cost the company, but the projected growth numbers are outstanding. Trades under book value a share, pays a dividend (not much). Positive earnings, not many fims and funds have taken major positions with only roughly 25% held by them of slightly over 120 millions shares are outstanding. My fair price is in the 12-15 range, company needs to find ways to cut costs, by streamling operations, just like any othe major employer (over 17K employees is major to me). Offsetting costs of recent (last 18-24 months) acquisitions
