Garmin is the number one player is the fast growing GPS navigation market. A highly vertally integrated company Garmin is able to adapt to changing techologies and roll an integrated solution to manufacturing quickly while most of it's competitors outsource manufacturing slowing their time to market with new products. Garmin products have great user interfaces and a reputation for phenominal customer service. Garmin has been growing at 25%+ annually and their existing opportunities suggest this trend will continue for some time to come. Combine this with high margins and an awesome batting average with successful product launches and you have a real winner.

Great product--you should have one. Their ad is really good, too.

GPS units have been around for a number of years now and with the introduction of various mapping functions they are really taking off. From an outdoors perspective (hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling, etc.) everyone will want to have at least one.

The GPS craze will cool off in the near term due to market volatility, but Garmin makes the best GPS by far, and is the standard for the aviation industry. When the market recovers, GRMN should grow a lot.

The best quality/value GPS product. I spent a summer working for a GPS competitor in the 1990s and admired GRMN back then. I am not surprised to see what a success it has become. GRMN offers a great product at a competitive price and knows how to market it. At $15/share, I think it is a bargain (though 2009 will be rough).

This company is well diversified in marine, aviation, auto, and outdoor GPS. Even if phone sales break even, they will continue to grow. International phone sales will likely be better than USA. Recent huge drop not justified without knowing earnings and guidance, due out next week.

GPS is becoming very popular. I expect sales to rise.

growth of global positioning systems is at the beginning of cyclical growth period that may span several more years. Garmin is one of the leading players.

While the stock appears cheap, the contracting margins and the expensive foray into the cell phone business will keep the stock price depressed. This company is just fighting against the wave that is the GPS commoditization.

Consistent and growing ROIC, free cash, ROE, EPS, best breed. Dominent market share, no debt, management alligned with stock holders. Management holds large positions, takes minimal options. And it's in an industry that is just beginning to take off. I've had navigation in my cars for the past three years and would not even think of buying another car without a navigation system.

They have a strong brand name, great management, military contracts, and customer loyalty. This is a definate long term winner.

Explosive growth in GPS systems.
Garmin has a wide moat high-end business in Aviation and Maritime systems which allows them to offer systems that are widely recognized as the best in breed.
It is true that consumer navigation systems are much more competitive and lower margin, but there are innumerable tie-in opportunities and marketing possibilities.
This is at least as good a bet as GOOG.

- Leader in a category(auto) that will grow 5x over the next 3 to 4 years.
- Also leader in many other categories - all growing fast.
- Product technology protected by patents
- Who would rely on a cell conection for directions??

I am bullish on this industry in general

Has a great product in a market that will be as popular as cell phones in the next couple of years. Also has a broad spectrum of market segments to use the GPS technology

GPS sales are bound to explode in growth as consumers realize the advantages of efficient driving.

I often buy stock in products that I purchase for my own use. I spent 2+ weeks reviewing GPS units and found Garmin to have the best "bang for the buck"

Lets look at the big picture here. Yao is their pitch guy.
No, just kidding. Listen, the trend in personal electronics is towards consolidation and convergence devices. Why would business types (the target market, apparently) want a Garmin or TomTom if their Blackberry has GPS built-in?
From my knowledge of electronics, they don't seem to have the design capability to build a product with widespread appeal. They won't survive the future on their own.
This pitch is moot and wrong if Garmin has some kind of portable GPS division. That alone will provide value for them.
Recs
he total market for personal navigation devices is forecast to triple in the next five years.

Mega bargain for this puppy
