That's basically my take on it as well.

Today's SEC announcement stripped away about $13 billion from their market cap. The firm made an estimated $4 billion off of the subprime market. Based on the debate that went on behind it, I cannot imagine they were not talking to all kinds of lawyers about conflict of interest when that bet was made.

Could be wrong, but I doubt it. I have a lot of respect for GS in that if there's a buck to be made, they'll make it.

Todays bad SEC news for GS is good news for PMI.
The Scam Mortgages should have never been written in the first place, thus PMI would not have insured them in the first place..
