Gran Tierra Energy a Canadian independent oil company is engaged in oil and gas exploration, development and production in Columbia Argentina and Peru. Significant oil reserve additions resulted from drilling success on company properties in Colombia and Argentina in 2007. This has transformed the company from an exploration company to a rapidly growing exploration and production company. Gran Tierra Energy started 2008 with an interesting group of exploration and development opportunities and a solid production base.

Oil prices are only going to trend upward. A North American company with successful exploration in Columbia, Argentina and Peru, GTE is operating in a more stable part of the world than many others. Q4 07 showed a profit. As delivery systems are put in place and additional wells come on line, this stock will easily beat the S & P.

Gran Tierra has proven that they can successfully target, acquire, and create value (via producing) in underdeveloped lands. This track record of success will not go unnoticed. Any acquisition from a Big Oil firm will come with a very high price valuation. And even if Big Oil doesn’t come calling, GTRE will still increase shareholder value as they simultaneously ramp up their production and cash flow. It’s a very exciting story, and as early investors, we can profit as GTRE evolves into a significant international oil and gas company.

All Exploration results positive, once pipeline is laid and paid for and they can stop trucking the stuff earnings will leap. Wait for about a week after production report for Costayaco-3 (assuming its good) and let the market run up/sell off, and then buy in.
As of writing, 3/6/08, there should be a good entry point pre earnings in a few weeks, as well, w/ a higher risk reward as there are still some unkowns as to cost of recent infrasturcture improvements and of course the success of the 3rd well.

Target = $12 ; Timeframe = 8-18 months.
