The Colombian stock market has had a great run over the last 10 years but I think that the Colombian economy has several more years of growth in it.

The country of Colombia did not lose 12% of its profit potential in a couple weeks. The Fed is still buying and the money needs to find its way somewhere. Why not a growing county with an unduly bad reputation. I have been to Colombia. It seemed WAY WAY WAY safer than Mexico is now.

The police hardly tried to shake me down. in fact, they could have simply robbed me blind as they would have done in the past. Instead they only stripped me down naked in a park and went through all my stuff, making me pay a couple dollars "fine" for having a 3cm blade..... OK, so they have some issues, including the the 12 year old prostitutes surrounding the same police station/park for "protection". Ahh shiv, now I am rethinking my entire pick, but the fact of the matter is that the USA was absolutely no better in 1900, and arguably a much worse place to put your money in 2010. Time changes everything.

Instability would seem to be behind Colombia, which has a large youthful population that is eager to declare peace and make a way towards prosperity. Bogota is on track to become a highly-developed world city of almost 10 million people in the coming decades. The country enjoys an important geographical position, and seems to be of strategic value, and as a result enjoys unusually strong development support from the USA. The country also has rich geological resources. All together, I want to keep my eye on Colombia...
