So, there are a lot of folks who thought last year that Hallmark financial would do fine, if not great... that never happened, so the question is... is it cheap enough now? Afterall, this year the financial sector is supposed to do good things, right? Maybe. But I think the price is cheap enough for CAPS. I would have to watch a while before putting real money down.

I wouldn't be surprised if HALL falls off the NASDAQ completely. I just don't see much that's inspiring about their management at present... 1Q results like theirs can eat a little organization alive (esp. when they have unproven board members at the helm).

Forward earnings for FY2009 isn't their strongest suit, but at today's price in the low 11's and FY2008 forecast earnings of $1.37, I'll jump in here with an outperform.

As with all my picks: A very attractive P/E, excellent EPS growth rate and high five year growth prospects.

Insurance play with tons of room for growth. Well diversified, selling in niche markets as well. The companies growth rates (revenue and EPS) have done exceptionally well over the last few years.
This stock is like Markel at a much smaller stage ($225 million vs. $2.5 billion for markel).

Just added a real life position in this stock, for the short term looking for maybe 18.50- optimistic 20 a share. Although I do have a stop in at 14.50, where if it drops below I will look to see if there's still upside. The stock is under heavy acquisition and the company fast moving growing earnings, it is up 22% over the past 6 months favorable considering that similar companies are down 2%. P/e is low and respectable, only thing that is negative is it's run up recently which is why I have the stop and margins are only average relative to other insurance groups.

I think this stock has potential... but its still a wait and see stock.... but I like Hallmark... and I know a lot of people out there also like them... and trust them... so I think they will get a positive push in this stock.
