It appears that HEV will begin production under a $70 million contract in January. HEV has publicly stated they anticipate signing an additional two development contracts this year.

Citron has raised issues with this company that appear valid to me. In addition, my research leads me to question the importance of their purchase of the "third largest battery maker in Korea." I don't have proof, but I detect some puffery… More

I know this company doesn't look great on the fundamentals. While growth is somewhat sluggish, I think Hybrid Electric Vehicles (and pure Electric Vehicles) will take on a large share of the road over the next 5 to 10 years. Ener1 is one of 2 or 3 viable US players and already has several battery products ready for the market to come. Even though the big revenues are down the line, I think the supply contracts will come in advance of the demand. With regard to overseas competition, due to high unemployment I think that there will be a large contingent in the US that wants to see more manufacturing of this type at home and there will be considerable political pressure to incent some domestic production.

In a growth business with excellent technology to offer. The rechargeeable lithium battery business is only just at the beginning of a long and bug run!
