Investor B: There is no reason, from my reckoning, to be positive about Hovanian's earnings report after hours this Wednesday. Recessionary fears should multiply the shock effect of a potentially poor earnings report. However, losses could be cushioned by Hovnanian's already low price.

Recent news concerning weakness of many financial firms with potential layoffs in the near future would seems to bring additional stress to the housing market in the Northeast. With the housing industry weakened by 3 years of QE and no real recovery, it is unlikely that any further increase in unemployment will be tolerated well. Unless foreign buyers are found, it appears that the trend downward will continue for many of the home builders, including HOV.
