Mark Hurd continues to make all the the right strategic moves while keeping a lid on costs. He truly is a great corporate leader, visionary and steward of shareholder capital. I would add Jim Cornelius from Brristol-Myers Squibb to that unfortunately abbreviated list as well.Unfortunate because there aren't enough leaders like them.
Sometimes it pays to be a fast second. Imitation is truly the greatest form of flattery as HP imitates IBM in the services business. Now they have upped the ante by entering into the networking fray. Lookout Cisco! HP's foreign exposure will help it too as it translates stronger foreign currencies into weaker dollars. It's a safe play on China as well.

This company has been strong and still has a fairly well priced stock despite the recession and I trust their CEO, CFO, etc's judgment.

Solid. The 3Com buyout will only strengthen this company.

This is part of the mobile internet index that Cramer is touting I looked and figured what the hay its worth a shot to see if they grow they way he thinks they will. His thesis is that the mobile internet while be as big a game changer as the original internet was. Being a CTO I do not think it will be that big a movement but it will provide enough growth for his index to work just not be the huge bust out he thinks it will be. What your looking at is replacing every cell phone and laptop with a device that can connect to the internet at broadband speeds form just about anywhere in the US. The only problem I with his choice is that he left out HP and DELL and Lenovo the big laptop makers they will have a play and I am including them in my version of the index. It's been a flop so far but I have hopes.

Computer sales are already starting to increase sharply. People who had been putting off buying a new computer because of the economy aren't going to put it off much longer. Plus the company already has pretty solid earnings.

They are inovative and are always up to date on the electronic et al market and competition. Management is agressive.

Companies are making due in the recession, once that pressure lifts they'll need to rotate tech. HP I think is thought of having higher quality products than rivals right now. With the change in management HP is more focused, this stock as some room to climb.
Recs
Huge potential to continue growing and improving profit as Services further expand
Recs
HP has been through some rough times with an inadequate leader. They seem to have gotten their act together and should show better results in the future. They do have a 5 year record of increases in EPS, but the free cash flow is weak.
Recs
Still undervalued
Recs
a solid tech play, gaining market share in a global market
