This is a down trodden stock that is recovering from losses in 2013.
There has been major restructuring that appears to be paying off.
They have cut expenses and increased R&D significantly.
Their network equipment has become comparable to Cisco and is well thought of.
They are soon to release liquid cooled servers which can cut cooling costs enormously.
Many companies use more electricity cooling their servers than running them, not to mention the cost of chillers & AC maintenance.
I'm buying & I think 5 years from now I'll be glad I did.

I picked this stock because it is rated 10 by Stockscouter, it has a dividend and a beta computed by Yahoo Finance of more than 1.

Dividends500 tracks the 200 strongest dividends in the S&P 500. To qualify as a strong dividend, the company must meet two simple requirements:

- A payout ratio below 50%
- An increasing dividend from the prior year

Because there are more than 200 dividend paying companies in the S&P 500 that meet these requirements, the qualifying companies with the largest dividend yields were chosen.

Dividends500 intends to test this FactSet article, which highlights these strong dividend paying companies and their outperformance versus the S&P 500 as a whole (Page 12).

Unloved and underappreciated HPQ has transformed themselves from a purveyor of low margin laptops, printers and other Radio Shack crap to a highly competitive maker and marketer of servers for the business customer. The enterprise group segment of the company is providing the growth in revenue and will likely be a force to reckon with in the next 3 - 5 years. The stock is trading at a PE of 10.6 and EV/EBITDA is only 5.6. ROE is a tasty 19%.

Despite my low opinion of Whitman, I know there are a lot of talented and visionary people still remaining there. If they can find an exploitable niche, they will recovery - HPQ is not Dell or JCPenny. Give`em a year and let's see....

Can't keep a good company down; saw interview with CEO on CNBC and was very impressed; I thought HPQ had moved out of laptops entirely and learned they are going after niche markets and enterprises which id what I work with; Hewlett CPUs tied together. Not as impressive as some things from MU or Fufitsubut it is the bread and butter of midcap American business. A point Ms. Whitman made repeatedly.

Recent earnings are good, but HP seems to be lost in a fog. The recent 9% jump seems like irrational exuberance to me.
