Continued growth through the government and commercial section should sustain this for at least 10 - 15 years as a consistant high performer.

Some one told me they were good

Strong government contracts, low valuation and debt compared with industry average.

Whats not to like? This stock has appreciated, paid dividends, split twice, and continued to appreciate for the past 15+years.

Assured Communications in the government, military and private sector. Aiding in the shift to HD TV and HD radio. This company will grow both organically and via acquisition. One to watch!

Harris is a company that has been taking advantage of the current spending for Military defense. From what I have seen so far, Harris is working hard to break into new areas and they have even successfully been able to win contracts away competitors in areas where they were the underdog.

After the next election, government spending could likely shift away from military defense for a while, so this stock could temporarily go on sale. Eventually the political pendulum will swing again towards defense and Harris will be there to capitalize. I think that this is a good long term stock to hold onto.

The fundamentals seem to be strong. The recent acqusitions of Leitch added to their range of product offerings in the media server /routing and distribution business.
The next 4-5 years is a boom time for Digital TV.
Achilles heel: Analog transmitter business in the US is fading and they need to wake up to the new reality and make some strategy changes. Short-term they can get away with selling to emerging markets , though.

Supplemental budget for defense communication budget larger than expected over next year. Democrats said will do what it needs to to help military. Replacement cycle for military radios/communications, increase in international orders.

Possible take over? I always like companies that always have good news surrounding them. Have been following Harris around the 30s. This is a good company.

Harris may be the most aggravating stock I own. They win, win, win... Somebody PLEASE look at their freaking financials! This stock may well be in the 60-70 range if they ever announce earnings on a quiet news day.
