The "Lex Column" in the FT announced that the container shipping business probably has some trouble ahead b/c the excess capacity leading to crap rates leading to the +40 P/E ratio here isn't the end of the story. More container ships have been ordered, will add plentifully to the existing overcapacity, and will make the bounce in the shipping sector look a lot premature. Myself, I found his (her?, their?, its?) reasoning, simple, elegant, and convincing. Short the sector.

undervalued short-term hick-up. fuel pricing hurt transports, federal investigation, change of management, heavy insiders selling.
Overall this company has a solid business model despite all of the above. New mangement has come in and should get things rolling.
Pricing levels are undervalued.

Horizon has really been clobbered lately, especially since the Feds announced an investigation last week. Even if he's guilty, the bad guy is supposed to get a fair trial before he's hanged. In this case the hanging seems premature, and it seems overdone for a company that was trading over $30 a few months ago with solid earnings and an excellent franchise. It should recover gradually over the coming year, as the fed investigation drags on and recedes from the news.

No pitch. Just like this company. Have a cousin in the shipping broker business, and volume has held steady at moderately high levels. HRZ just happens to be one of many, but I think it is one of the best of the many shipping companies.
