Alternative energy companies should be highly sought after in the next few years and everyone starts thinking greener.

Speculative pick hoping that US will be as smart as Iceland in harnessing geopower.

Hold until November. 52 week low, and winter is coming. They have some generation capacity in Idaho, but this is a more of a speculative pick based on the election outcome, political winds, and continued rise in the cost of producing energy.

Any source of power is better than oil and it is clean and endless.

This company uses geothermal energy sources such as hot springs to create clean renewable energy. With the US constantly looking for clean alternative energy sources, I definetely see this one going up in the near future.

Alternative energy stocks are the hottest accessory for any investment portfolio... I'm rolling the dice on this one as a play on an expected rising trend of pursuing more alternative/ renewable energy resources with the next Presidential Adminstration.

Geothermal energy is cheap ~ 5 cents for 1 Kw and environmental friendly, furthermore the oil price is predicted to increase in the coming years

Geothermal energy in right section of USA. Has great profit potential. They've brought first project to fruition and seem to have a really nice thing going. If energy is going to remain expensive then this stock should do OK.

Renewable Energy pick. Development stage company but does have 2 geothermal plants up and running generating revenues (new plant at Raft River I is producing 11-12 MW as of January '08). Geothermal energy has a lower operating cost than both wind and solar power, but the initial captial costs are higher. Power utilities prefer geothermal power since it is a 24/7 source of power, unlike wind and solar which have down times. Construction capital for Raft River came from Goldman Sachs via joint venture partnership. Will need to raise additional financing to complete projects. Company's other geothermal projects have good potential based on initial testing. CEO cut his teeth in the mining industry (is former CEO of Ivanhoe Mines).

Seems to be the best Company of the bunch as it has actually brought a project through the development stage (Raft River I). Others in the sector are years away from completing a producing plant. Stock can be a bit volitile, dollar cost average and buy on the dips.

I live in Idaho where Hydroelectric and geothermal are primary sources of power, and Raft River is great. Yes, this company is still risky, but the geothermal will take off just like other alternative sources, as it becomes more economically feasible than traditional sources. I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but it isn't environmental concerns that will decide when the alternative sources become profitable, it is the economy that will decide. Right now everyone is in the frame of mind to look at other resources, so this company has a bright future. Still a bit risky, but the price is right at this point in time, so here it goes...

Not as knowledgeable about this company as I should be, but it's one of those "shot in the dark" CAPS calls--the concept is good, and they are making some progress, so I'll get behind it for a while.

my eco play

Green's gonna get really popular after war with Iran and ANWAR drilling, but eventually people will realize it's not cost effective. Here's to all the govt funding that will be pushed into the Green-hole.

The Company is engaged in the acquisition, development and utilization of geothermal resources in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

This is a company with lots of upside with energy prices going out of control and environmental issues rising. Nowhere to go but up. The stock seems to be developping a nice support level and there can only be good news on the horizon given the strong growth perspective of the management team and it's niche.

Geothermal is a very strong renewable energy play because it provides baseload power with competetive cost and very good net energy. I think US Geothermal is a reasonable speculative play at this price, I will likely buy a small amount. Ormat is a safer bet, as they are well established and profitable. US Geothermal has more potential for both gains and losses.
