+ Watch HTZ
on My Watchlist
The Company is engaged principally in the business of renting cars and renting equipment.
Solid, well positioned, and serve a large population mainly untapped.
Icahn is shareholder
Following some smart investors with this pick. Expectation of a value unlocking event like a spinoff or share buybacks
The rental car industry should outperform given the pricing power that comes with consolidation. The latest drop in Hertz was a buying opportunity, as seen by its quick rebound. Icahn will likely pressure management with board appointments and the CEO may be done for, which would likely be welcomed by investors.

Bad management likely to end soon. Upcoming spinoff..
Hertz: Carl Icahn , Dan Loeb pick. They are smarter than I am. I don't get it. Not a real money pick...My math says it's worth $15 not $30.End ASAP.
I'm following Third Point's Dan Loeb into Hertz. I've had pretty good success following his moves in the past. Her's one of the best hedge fund managers out there who is actually somewhat transparent with his moves, at least enough for individual investors like you and I to follow.Hertz just announced that it plans to spin off its global equipment rental business. This move will benefit the company in a number of ways, including margin improvement and providing it with a huge wad of cash that it can use to repurchase shares. I've seen estimated that it could buy back as much as 20%.If you look at my portfolio here in CAPS, you can certainly tell how much I love spinoffs.Deej
Undervalued w/ potential activist... Late 12/2013
Strong run over the last year but the story has run ahead of itself with a big valuation today. Not only is the company still materially indebted but competition is growing fast too.
Expanding in Asia, consolidating in the U.S. [just bought Thrifty-Dollar; Alamo's next], and still best of breed.
Misunderstood, Synergies, Potential for future growth, high returns, great management
Car rental industry is strong. Rates increased with consolidation and hurricane sandy fleet disruption. As a result, revenues are improving and earnings are growing faster. The threat of pricing disruptions from a business like Zipcar has dissipated with the recent buyout by Avis.
Definitely overpriced. This company has seen better days.
Seems overpriced, with a large amount of debt based on the motley fool data set.
High Cashflow for Market Value
