This stock was trading at $61.25 on July 20, 2007 before the crash. My trailing stop loss gave me a nice gain. Be sure you use stop loss orders if you go long.

Brazil seems like the right place and the right time. I have done well when I have played the levels right. The country still has a lot of hurdles to overcome but hey, what's a government if not corrupt. Take a look around here. At least the Brazilian Gov. is up front about it.

P/E at an all time low, which is even more notable given that earnings took a freak hit in Q3 due to the collapse of the peso.
But most of this homes this company builds are bought with mortgages provided by a Mexican government program which is likely to be stepped up to fight the recession. The market is pricing WAAAYYY too much pessimism about 2009 and 2010 into this stock.

Housing market is growing in Mexico. Every day more and more Mexicans buy a home or are in the process of buying one.Even Mexican nationals currently living in the U.S own a home in Mexico. That's alot of houses!!!Who else besides Homex plays a role in the construction these houses? Cemex(CX) the largest cement company in Mexico so keep an eye on them as well.

This is an excerpt from an article I found on ING Direct done by MarketWatch.
Ken Shreve, markets desk anchor for Investor's Business Daily, went looking among new names to find stocks that might be market leaders going forward.
To that end, based on IBD studies which show that stocks tend to make their biggest gains in their early stages as a public company, Shreve screened the universe of stocks for companies that went through initial public offerings in the last eight years, that have a price above $10 per share, that are within 30% of their 52-week high and that score high on IBD's "composite rating" system.
Shreve came up with 45 stocks, and whittled them down to three names that he believes have exceptional potential to perform during any market rally that might occur in the near future: China solar-wafer maker ReneSola (SOL), Hornbeck Offshore Services (HOS) and Homex Development (HXM) all have the kind of "explosive growth potential" to be leaders during the next rally, Shreve said.

go mexico.... home ownership is rising at a faster pace than most countries.Paying for this will be a huge priority to any homebuyer in Mexico. Their families are more valued there, and home is closely tied to family.

Mexican housing market is still strong and will grown with government support for the sector.

housing boom in Mexico

You can gamble on when U.S. housing stocks will turn around or you can buy the leading Mexican
homebuilder on a dip and watch it grow. The goverment is trying to encourage Mexicans to buy houses and HXM (don't ask me to pronounce the company name) is expanding from focusing on relatively inexpensive homes ($40K) to homes for middle income folks and resort homes--thus expanding profit margins.

A growth rate in excess of 70% is a good reason to invest in this HXM, even at the top of its trading range. With a P/E of 17, it leaves its competitors in the dust.
It's worth noting that the Mexican market for housing is in a very different cycle than the American one. The government is just starting to spend moderately on housing, and this is an important consideration.
