Like the Silver Surfer, ICE is smooth and pushes the data packets from here to there in all markets. Without some of ICE's connections and routes, nations would not be paid on time.

ICE is currently undervalued currently because it is lumped in with struggling financial sector, but as an exchange, it benefits from high volatility (trade volume). Enjoys exceptional margin, and has industry leading trading platform performance. Is well positioned vs. other exchanges given it's role as a derivatives exchange and clearing house.

Where to begin. Judging from the numbers alone I would say ICE is at the very least fairly valued if not significantly undervalued. While it trades at a premium relative to competitor CME, given their growth and financial performance I think the price is more than warranted. What I like most about ICE is the fact that they run a highly efficient, vertically-integrated operation while aggressively moving to expand and diversify as well. They just acquired Climate Exchange (CLE) for roughly $600 million, adding emission credits to their existing swap and futures business and giving them exposure to potential future cap and trade regulations. While it's difficult to predict exactly how the new financial reform rules will affect ICE's revenue which is largely volume-driven, I think it's safe to say that the company stands to benefit from the inevitable shift towards centralized, regulated exchanges. Macro, there aren't really any huge fundamental risks and any time you can pick up shares under $100 is probably a good opportunity.

electronic trading of commodities rather than open out cry trading will be the future for this type of trading, and that coupled with coming commodity price volatility consequential to higher inflation plus the growth in electronic trading of CDS contracts means ICE, the leader in electronic platform trading, will benefit enormously from the inevitable significant growth in trading volume in all commodity and financial futures.

I like the potential business growth for ICE in the CDS market. I think the management will work aggressively to grow the business.

ICE dropped 14% yesterday on analysts down ratings. Why didn't it drop a few days ago upon the news that propmted the down ratings? Illogical trading. This was a panic sell, again. This stock should recover in a few weeks and stabilize.
