Icahn Enterprises' current market cap of $3.5 billion is less than the combined value of its $1 billion cash position and $2.8 billion in securities that it holds. Add to that Ichan's successful track record as an investor and this is an interesting play.

Icahn's fund is at doom and gloom price levels. If anyone profit's from market volatility and distressed situations it's Carl Icahn. It trades at 3 to 1 price to tangible book value and 15/16 P/E levels. Not crazy cheap, but look for the price to rebound faster than the market.

the company name is a dot com flashback, when real estate was hot everyone was real estate this or that,

gas exploration, needs focus not a conglomerate

gaming can mix with real estate only if hotel partners are available, gaming is a financing intensive business

home fashion, tough business, retail highly dependent on financing to expand

this not a good diversify play as all there business can and will get hit by a recession,

cash, cash, cash are the three most important words

solid companies, w/cash in the bank,

I am not quite sure why this is a 1 star stock here. Anyone care to explain?

Getting on board with Icahn seems like a good move to me. Especially at a 52 week low

Wait for the price to drop to 105 and by then sell at 129.

Yay, debts and whoaming P/E!
Dealing with gas is still not a synonym to being a succesful company. Fortunately, I presume ;)

So far, Mr. Icahn has shown himself to be a canny businessman, and his mix of businesses is diversified, ones he understands, and the stock has grown hugely, with his mode of operating.
