YUP. LONG TERM WINNER EVEN WHEN INFLATION HITS AND THEN THE DOLLAR STRENGHTENS.
Recs
Realestate will come back , monthly dividend with international exposure
Recs
Real estate also a hedge against inflation.
Recs
Dividend payout of 8.2% will drop start price and make this an outperform

This fund is still low, but can easily go up at least 100% in 1-2 years or even sooner, in the mean time you get a high dividend paid every month. It has to my opinion much less risk because the percentage of each real estate stock is low, so even in the worst case some stocks go wrong you still can have overall a (very) good performance and enjoy the high dividend. I am sure real estate will come back again.

Boosted RE prices should allow IGR to regain much of its lost value and coupled with IGR's dividends, should allow for a mid-to-long growth and income choice.
Recs
Global real estate is depressed as a result of the credit and mortgage crisises. This is already factored into the price of the REITs, and I daresay they've even been oversold in a knee-jerk reaction to the market decline. I expect they'll be back with a vengence as the markets begin to recover.
Recs
Great dividend and cash flow alone is financing it.
In the short term, this won't beat the S&P - definitely a long term play here.
I'm in on this one with real money.
Recs
A great international REIT with solid holdings and a continuous dividend payer. Excellent long term holding - will have some volatility but will give great returns over time.

A hopefull prospect

I must confess, I don't know why the hell I dove into this fund! It was north of $17 less than a year ago and it seems way oversold, if you think that the commercial RE market will not tank to the degree that the residential RE market did last year. A long time friend, also a commercial RE broker, tells me many firms are locked into multi-year lease arrangements (5-10 years) that may bridge the start/end of the RE depression. Also, most commercial leases contain a clause which says rent increases annually by a certain amount. Sometimes this amount is the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and sometimes commercial leases say that rent is to increase by CPI + X%. Inflation is coming, no doubt about that, and commercial property owners are more than protected, and will probably profit from it. This is a longshot with 10,000 shares @ $2.98, to be sure.

Like many of the posts regarding IGR, I agree that real estate WILL come back, and with a vengeance! Right now, with IGR's 16%+ yield, I'm looking at it as simply a high-yield savings account, and expecting it will fund my 7-year-old's college education in 11 years.

They just cut their div in half, and still have a good div... Yeah there's more pain coming, but their income isn't tied to US consumers or OIL, at least not directly..
Recs
This fund is appropriately diverisified in both the U.S. and foreign markets. REITs in the U.S. are already starting to show life again, thank goodness, and it shouldn't be long until this CEF is back at it's usual trading level between $13-$18.00/share.
Recs
Real estate and REITS are beaten down right now - which makes sense considering recent history. This one seems to be solid and internationally diverse...if you are willing to hang on to it for a few years, it will likely pay you handsomely.
Recs
Real Estate is the current whipping boy of the market. This too shall end. We will see a regression to the mean and IGR will do well. Meanwhile it will pay you a great dividend while you wait.
Recs
The global investment opportunities will continue to beat american as they have done since 1995.
IGR is a global fund that pays a regular dividend.

Rick McCoy

Well run with EU exposure. Save large dividends.

This closed-end REIT is little known, but performs as a winner. ING is a great asset management company and this list of properties owned is large, impressive, diverse, and long lasting properties.
The international market is hot and will stay that way regardless of the American recession.
The dividend is monthly, and has at least 1 yearly Capital Gain payment a year. Balance sheet is good and good managers in place.
Recs
1. High inflation and low $ value make this fund very attractive
2. Asset bubble is keep going up in the globe.
3. Impressive dividen return, December $1.82 payment per share for amazing 10% yield (combining yield close to 20% at this low price).
