Dividends500 tracks the 200 strongest dividends in the S&P 500. To qualify as a strong dividend, the company must meet two simple requirements:

- A payout ratio below 50%
- An increasing dividend from the prior year

Because there are more than 200 dividend paying companies in the S&P 500 that meet these requirements, the qualifying companies with the largest dividend yields were chosen.

Dividends500 intends to test this FactSet article, which highlights these strong dividend paying companies and their outperformance versus the S&P 500 as a whole (Page 12).

Intel is gearing up for the future and staking out an early claim in the tiny microscopic robotics sector. They will be in everything from cars to toasters. Steady growth, great dividends, and a wide economic moat.. what's not to love.

Intel is struggling for 'the next big thing', and so far their forays into 'selling' manufacturing capacity has not gotten a strong uptake. Further, they are struggling with their next process node achievements and are behind schedule. The stock pays a decent dividend, but the stock price won't go anywhere fast.

Looking at there earnings they don't have the power over the market they once had. The fact that the Div has not moved in 7 qtrs is also a negative signal for me.

In addition to Intel's vertical integration, enormous R&D, enormous war chest, and room to grow in mobile, the internet of things bodes well for the company that can get in cahoots with a company (e.g., GE) developing connected products.

Intel will struggle to keep up with the market given their struggles and lack of penetration into mobile. Qualcomm and Nvidia will continue to surge and Intel will falter.

I am currently reading Greenwald's "Competition Demystified". In it he talks about Intel and what made it a great company in the PC space: Economies of scale and consumer captivity which is a powerful combination.
Consumers know and like Intel. They want a PC with an Intel processor. And becasue Intel is so big, they enjoy economies of scale primarily in terms of RnD.
So how looks INTC today? The PC business is still great. They are completely dominant. It's not growing anymore, but you'd have to be really stupid to believe that it is going away.
The mobile business has been the big problem. But I think Intel can take it. First of all they have the resources to do the necessary RnD and secondly they can translate that consumer captivity to tablets. If a PC can be labeled "Intel inside" so can a phone or a tablet and this will suggest higher quality to consumers like it does for PCs.

This is their breakout year. They killed it at the CES, and will shift from PCs to smartphones and other products.

Sure, Intel is a huge company but it has a bigger moat than any other company, yes, imo even bigger than Google. They are leaders in transistor research and micro chips, a definite buy and hold for the long term. Everything in the future will have a micro chip and they will benefit from it.

Intel Corporation, a stable leader in the semiconductor technology markets is positioned for growth and income over the next three to five years. The next Recession is probably sometime after 2015.

Intel Corporation is a total return BUY for growth and Income.
