This stock was down 10% today because it's earnings were only 15% over last year. Shucks! Mr. Market hates being disappointed!!!
In the meantime, IPGP serves a global client base, was #9 on the list of Fortune's 100 fastest growing companies in 2012, enjoys a substantial "green" advantage over competitors, and provides fiber lasers and amplifiers in a range of different market applications. My original position was up 20% since I bought it a year ago (even with the 10% drop today), so I was glad to double my shares.

I love this stock, http://financials.morningstar.com/ratios/r.html?t=IPGP®ion=USA&culture=en-us
the growth of per share free cash flow, the return on invested capital, the top line growth
I will admit I do not really understand the business, other than it get the job done with less power. I believe SwiftTuttle when he says that this company ebbs and flows with the macro economy. It mostly sells to manufacturers. How big is the market? I do not know, but I am willing to find out. I am invested, and I am continuing to read about this one. If it drops I hope to have the courage to add more.

This is a very positive 5 star stock; the outperform ratio is 1457/34; It has a very strong 3 year price appreciation in the range of 300%; the P/E ratio at 24 is reasonable for a fast growth stock; lasers give it some allure; on the negative side, there was very little price appreciation two years ago and outside analysts give it a bearish 1.8 rank. I probably should have done a little more research before pulling the trigger on this one.

IPG built a better mouse trap with their fiber optic lasers. The market can only grow as more applications are found for these powerful and very cool devices.

I have been waiting for the pullback. The 25 PE is worth the plunge.
Almost no debt, 60% Margin, 25% net and a revolutionary product with a strong entrance barrier (patent), seems like a buy.

advanced manufacturing is more prevalent and you can clearly see that. look at all the cars with sleek and complex designs. they used to be only on higher end cars but if you see cheaper cars like the ford fusion, you can clearly see that its being more widely used. design is important on a car, you can see this with the success of hyundai the past few years. hyundai was able to make cheap cars with cool sleek designs. ipg photonics has great potential

low debt, lots of cash, market leading innovative product with increasing applications. >20% ROE

This company has a solid slate of products which makes it a good long-term bet.

Strong competitive lead in fiber lasers which provide industrial applications with efficiency improvements over traditional lasers. Growing market and best technology. Over 20% return on assets and low debt which provides leverage to take advantage of additional opportunities in technology improvements and adjacent markets.

The fiber-laser maker is a disruptive technology that continues to take share away from the competition. The market is growing and the company is making tons of investments to keep growing. One of my favorite companies.
Recs
The Apple of laser companies.

They have a good history of beat estimates most quarters; a good deal of growth and innovation; pe around 23 (not bad for a growth company). A fear of economic contraction may put pressure on shares, but I think a "long-term buy & add during times of weakness approach" will prove profitable. Innovation, growth, and a reasonable entry price.

buy higher

Rule breaker laser company - primed for blow out - great resistance in 40s

I don't know the least bit about the business of lasers but all the numbers, price, growth, profit, cash, debt.... so good i cant say no

I need more info

Fiber-laser is increasing its participation in many industries, and IPGP as a leader in fiber laser is set to take advantage of this qrowth. Although in the short-term its performance could be hit by the economic problems in Europe, I think IPGP is set to outperform the S&P 500 in the long term.
