IR is hardware manufacturing that is oriented to business solutions for infrastructure capitalization and growth, but additionally has a heavy commercial and residential security customer base it is targeting globally. It's recent acquisition of TRANE corporation has created duplicity of human resources that are undergoing reorganization and houskeeping. I feel internal politics of this company is detracting from customer focus which in this stagnant market climate will retard, if not diminish, share growth even as the worldwide recession eases.

"boring" like K-Tron (KTII), though much much bigger. I wish they had less debt, but hey, it has a 5 star CAPS rating so that eases my concerns some. I'm reloading at a slightly lower price.

This Berkshire holding boasts a substantial dividend yield, and has the necessary financial strength to weather a short to medium term "double dip" in the economy.

Delisting from the Russel 3000 and S&P 500 due to reincorporation in Ireland will hurt the share price in the short term, but you have to like this company's long-term outlook.

The company is positioning itself for a rebound by aquiring Trane which is a very solid company and disposing of Bobcat and combining the Trane 401K program with the IR 401K program to cut costs. All moves are signaling cost cutting measures on all fronts to become lean and mean. This will benefit all its share holders nicely!

Looking at the great depression, rebuilding the infrastructure is what brought us out of it. Ingersoll manufactures things like equipment to build roads and major industrial machinery. With Obama's plan to rebuild America and rebuilding the infrastructure is a major part of that.

This stock is poised to jump as the re-building of the US's infrastructure takes hold. There equipment is at most job sites including: road repair, construction sites, cooling systems on delivery equipment and HVAC.

IR is a company that has suffered not only from the recession, but also from the high prices paid for recent acquisitions as well as the woes of the domestic auto industry. This is no one trick pony, but is diversified into several different industries.

Looking forward, recent restructuring and bond offerings have improved its balance sheet. It should see good growth from its strong position in the climate control industry. The recent renewed interest in infrastructure should also benefit sales. It has a strong collection of brand names. Estimates for EPS for 2010 average about 1.67, which makes for a forward P/E of 12.85. At the current price of $21.46 the dividend is a respectable 3.7%.

Many critics complain that IR overpaid for some of its recent acquisitions, but I believe that is already reflected in the current price. I believe this could easily be a $50 stock before 2012.

IR has positioned itself as a dominant player in the climate control industry. I see this sector growing in the long-term, with the worldwide trend towards urbanization and rising incomes in the developing, read warm, world leading to investment in climate control systems. Also, a push for greener technologies and energy efficiencies will mean reinvestment in updated systems. May see some short term instability as lack of residential and commercial real estate development means fewer purchases of new systems.

This stock is beat down. They've got strong fundamentals and money to spend. Plus, advertising spend is up for them which is strong. Throw in a recent large gov't contract and I'm riding this train to the promise land.

I'm concerned by level of debt. That said, I think there's a real upside here based upon current price at ~16 for those that can stomach some risk.
