Isle of Capri Casinos (ISLE)

CAPS Rating:
*

The Company is a developer, owner and operator of gaming facilities and related lodging and entertainment facilities in regional markets in the United States and Internationally.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

The charts speak for themselves. With the current economic chaos, people have less disposable income and dollars for any type of entertainment will fall off dramatically. They are trying to keep their homes out of forclosure and survive. The stock may be of some interest at a lower price and 1-2 yea...More

This company is in real trouble as long as gas prices stay high. Over 75% of its revenues come from states (MS, LA, IA, and MO) where a good portion of residents are putting at least 6% of monthly income into gas. Not to mention IA has been ravaged by floods. For background: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-07-01-small-town-ga...

Not only that, but the balance sheet and cash flow statements are abysmal. S&P has their bonds a B+(negative) already and with an interest coverage ratio (EBIT/interest expense) of just 0.5x, I wouldn't be surprised if they were downgraded even further. A drop to CCC wouldn't be out of the question, and that would add at least 2 full percentage points to any new debt they would need. Should a downgrade spells disaster for any company that needs to refresh its long-term debt load.

Recently appointed (3/08) CEO James Perry has a lot of work on his hands here. Until oil prices come down (ha!), this is one to avoid.

Among non-Indian casinos, this is the bottom of the barrel. It's just a step above the white trash bingo hall in my opinion. Not worth paying 24x earnings for.

People may not have much disposable income, but whether times are good or bad, you can count on gaming. This stock is undervalued right now and should make up some ground.
