ETNs are not equities or funds and they carry additional risk compared to an ETF. If the underwriting bank bankrupts, the value of the ETN will be eroded. Obviously, it's not a a ticker for orphans and widows, but I can take this risk in Caps (although not in real life).

Where else can you get a yield north of 8% on a basket of investment grade (at time of purchase) preferreds?
Unless interest rates rise to 20% a la days of Jimmy Carter, this is a hold for me.
At the ipo, this security sold for $15/sh. Have no expectation of it returning to those levels.
I'm not sure if "outperform" is the term I'd use. "Perform" without significant decrease of principal value would be just fine....bought it at $5 so should be ok for a while.
