Downthumb. Good cash flow. But poor sales growth, high debt ratio and high valuations. High end retailer in a high unemployment environment.

sell short nordstroms (JWN) & buy saks fifths (SKS)

158% gain this year is unrealistic, its going down, way down....

A top dept store retailer. But that's in an environment where consumers have money to spend. With money they do have to spend, consumers are price-conscious. None of which looks good for Nordstrom in the near term.
Recs
Going down short-term, then buy for the long term. I'd buy in the 12-16 range, sell in the 25-35 range.
Recs
The rally late last week (May 14-15) was far too much, too early, and looks more like a bounce than a reversal. It's too soon in the recovery for a company in Nordstrom's market to really benefit. JWN still has some pain to work through before it's a buy.
Recs
Going to go down more before it comes up
Recs
Consumer discretionary and it's pretty darn easy to trade down to a more moderately-priced department store. Nortstrom's is gonna get crushed in this recession.
Recs
Too much debt, too little consumer buying.

Should be a pretty bad "Black Friday" and Christmas Season.Still wanna buy those $300 dollar jeans now?

Savers is in... Nordstrom is out !

I purchased my first off the rack suit, my tailor died and budget constraints forced me to do this. $1,500.00 on the worse suit and tailoring I've ever experienced. Bargain basement sh*thole of a company hope they go bankrupt!

Nordstrom is doing terribly.

With no sign of the economy getting any better, high priced merchandise will not wheather the storm. Most things in Nordstrom are over priced to begin with, but without alot of extra income people will most likely take their dollars to Walmart.
Recs
look for this higher end retailer to get squeazed further as economy drops

Easter - the day when so many women and children would show off their new 'finery'. NOT this year. It looked as if the Grunge look was 'in' at church. Sorry, but with the economy in such a negative state, I fail to see sales at this retailer keep pace with last year.
Recs
I think this will be a laggard over the first half of the year. I think 1st quarter comps and earnings will be shy of even lowered expectations. The tax rebates will not be spent at Nordstroms. They will be spent retiring debt or paying for groceries and gas. And the fed's moves will not enhance consumer behavior because home values will still be in the tank and inflation still makes life expensive as far as food and energy.

Bad year for retaliers. Economy is bad, housing is bad, jobless rate is up. Besides what else could anybody really NEED to buy? We all already have almost everything we could want.(maybe a new 65 inch LCD TV) Nobody really NEEDS to by anything. Alot of people are waking up and finding out that buying more things will not make you happy.
