KB Home (KBH)

CAPS Rating:
*

Homebuilder with domestic operations in the following regions: West Coast, Southwest, Central and Southeast. Also provides mortgage banking services to the majority of its domestic homebuyers through its wholly-owned subsidiary, KB Home Mortgage Company.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other players to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Okay ... so I tried a swing short on some of the homies that had popped up a few weeks ago. Most of them worked out for minor gains and a few lost. Now, with the rate cuts, Fed. stimulus, gas going down and whatever else, ... changed my thinking that now is the time to be accumulating home builder...More

Dear KB Homes,

I have enough homes now. Thank you. You can stop building them.

Signed,
America

P.S. I can't afford these mortgages you gave me so I am going to stop making payments.

This company has a solid balance sheet and is undervalued right now. Look for this stock to rebound as the housing market recovers.

THERE ARE PLENTY OF HOUSES NOW, THANK YOU! I live in a small town where the economy is actually growing right now, and most home listings are over 6 months old. In addition to the surplus, the credit mess has made it harder for people who CAN afford homes to get morgtages, since the lenders are now gunshy after handing them out to every yahoo that could fog a mirror.

A little of topic, but here's a thought: How about operating on fundamental financial principles instead at either end of a pendulum swing in perception? How about letting capitialism work? I know I'm grossly simplifying this whole convulted debacle, but risk is called rsik for a reason--let the machine work, and dont use tax money from waiters and ditchdiggers to shore up someone who has suffered the tragedy of only having one billion dollars today when he had two yesterday.

Capitalism is a self correcting machine. Socialism is a government run economy. Which one has worked out?

KBH is poised for strong growth as the housing market has bottomed. It will only go up from here!
