Gold, Silver, n Copper - Did I mention GOLD?

Gold

When it comes to gold I really only have two things to say:
(1) Barrick Gold (ABX)
(2) Kinross Gold (KGC)

Why? ... glad you asked!

Gold, Silver, and Copper ... as in Cerro Casale, Chile WOW!!!!

Kinross acquired its 49% interest in the Cerro Casale gold-copper deposit in northern Chile on February 28, 2007, through its acquisition of Bema Gold. Barrick Gold held the remaining 51% interest. As a result of a new shareholders agreement entered into with Barrick and an associated reorganization of the corporate ownership in September 2009, each of Kinross and Barrick now have a 50% interest.

Discovered in 1996, Cerro Casale is located 145 kilometres southeast of Copiapó, and is directly south of Kinross' Maricunga mine.

The Cerro Casale deposit is a large gold and copper orebody with reserves (100%) of approximately 21 million ounces of gold and 5 billion pounds of copper. It is reputedly one of the largest undeveloped gold/copper deposits in the world.

21 mil oz x $1192 = $25,032,000,000 ($25 Billion) in the ground ... WOW !!!!

KGC bottomed at $6 a share in early 2009 and is up over 300% since. It does rest from time to time but is uniquely position to benefit from the continuing gold bull market.which is 9 years running

RL pick
gold will go up, for many reasons the biggest force being the inflationary pressures. Soon enough market participants will wake up and realize the mkt advance was due to excess liquidity flushing the system (regardless of loans made by banks)... s&p at 1000 in 3-4 months? LOL

Overall, this company is a good value play (some rough calculations give their total proved and estimate of gold & silver reserves given a 50% margin of safety to about $20b, and its mkt cap is $3bn. Lots of m&a activity going around gold industry... as well), + I also heard soros bought a significant stake in this business

I work at the Ft Knox Mine near Fairbanks, AK which is a Kinross property so take this as you will.
Kinross has a fanatical safety culture, is performance oriented, data driven, results driven and they "squeeze a nickle tight enough to make the buffalo burp".
Add to this the fact that Kinross has been a great corporate citizen and you have a recipe for success.
Also, the exploration efforts in the Livengood area North of Fairbanks are showing great promise with profitable gold content in the ore samples taken thus far.

Simply put, Kinross is doing all the things needed to succeed in the precious metals mining industry and it shows on the 10-K.
The stock has been languishing in the high teens to $20 a share for quite a while which is significantly undervalued.

Smart miner, good mines, good yields and bargain stock price. Buy it while it's still a bargain.

When things turn around it will be a result of the governments around the world having pumped money of all kinds into the system. This will cause a surge in inflation as economies start to tick up. That's why I've been and continue to be bullish on precious metals and the miners of said metals. Really, anything that is sensitive to inflation is a good place to be.

The armageddon nuts and gold bugs always think that gold is the place to be, but in this case that does not mean they are wrong.

You can blame TMFBreakerDave for me adding pitches to so many of my picks.

It is one of the lowest cost producers in the industry. It is becoming more efficient constantly. It now produces gold for about $406 an ounce; a 13% decrease from a year ago.

It's opened 3 new mines and plans on increasing production by over 30% this year. With new stimulus programs coming into place, there is going to be inflation, and, although we're experiencing deflation, this will change. Gold, being the ultimate hedge, is going to experience price increases as the investors seek to protect their capital.

So with production increases, low (among the lowest) cost/ounce in the industry and increasing prices, KGC should do quite well.

All in all,
