If they followed KFC's business model, maybe this company would survive... (grill rather than fry their donuts... then have Oprah pimp them on her website)... Or maybe all it would take would be to brew a decent pot of coffee.

Krispy Kreme is yummy and they're expanding in to new territory. They'll be pulling in more and more profits as the economy sweetens up a bit.

Learned financial lessons from past failures; improving per-store/distribution cost structure. Expanding in countries where donuts are appreciated. Superior product. Publicity through charitable events.

KKD is a ship that's slowly starting to right itself. It could still hit rough waters but the new management is making the right moves:

1) Reduction of its debt load
2) Expansion into new markets such as China and Thailand
3) Broadening its product line

It's risky: It's got stiff competition from Hortons and Dunkin Donuts. However, Krispy Kreme is also a solid, recognizable brand with value as well.

I think at this point, KKD is worth it on the brand alone and the prospect of a stablizing business.
