Extremely overvalued stock! This is a very capital intensive business which is why the free cash flow has been negative almost every year since the company went public. Investors make the mistake of valuing a business based on net income (accounting profit), however, in reality its cash that matters. A company that doesn't earn a lot of cash is not a good investment. This is why airlines and car manufacturers have always been struggling. The capital intensive nature of these businesses never makes them a good long-term investment.

It's cheap, just above the 52 week low.

Car Max main business model of making used car buying easy will do well in a recovering market. Used car sales are projected to rise in 2011 and car mas should benefit.

There is less momentum, less volume, and less buying going on. We are in the last part of this rally.

The 1929-1930 equity rally (coming out of The Great Depression) lasted 147 days and the market was up 46%. It has been the same amount of time since the March, 2009 low and we are up about the same percentage. It’s déjà vu (paramnesia), so prepare for a drop of about the same percentage (85%).
Recs
Growing company with lots of room to grow, smart advertising and a high-profit business model.
Recs
With the stock trading closer to it's high of over 17 and the lessening of the economy, frugality is going to be important to the consumer and while new car sales continue in a dire slump, used car sales are up. The no haggle, pricing and fact that it's one of the best companies to work for as rated by Fortune Magazine tells me that there is excellent management structure in place.
