KROGER is a COOL place to shop. KROGER has a "flavor" all its own and I am always totally pleased with the selection and prices and friendly, helpful staff.

Keeps on gaining and apparently has an antidote to the WalMart myth: "Always lowest prices". Ain't true, especially in grocery line. Kroger on sale items clobber WalMart's prices.

Revenue stream continues to grow, cash from operations continues to grow, company continues on stock buyback program as well as funding capex. Solid performer has proven to be formidable even head to head with main comp. Walmart. EPS should meet or beat company expectations.

I'm doing the opposite of Jim Cramer. Kroger doesn't make much money per share, growth prospects are limited, and 18.5 p/e is painful to me in a defensive industry. I'd stay away.

Kroger is primarily a food and grocery retailer, operating its stores in the supermarket format. It also sells products ranging from pharmacy, general merchandise to apparel and fuel, but a major part of its revenue comes from food and grocery. The company has its own manufacturing and processing plants, which provide bulk of the food products that it sells under its different corporate brands. The company operates a total of 3642 stores throughout the United States.

The food retailing industry is categorized by low profit margin and high competition. Amid this, the company has managed to differentiate itself because of its innovations in cutting costs, remodeling of stores and positioning itself as a one-stop shop for customer. The company believes in constant growth through both organic and inorganic method to gain a significant market share and because of these factors its revenue has seen a healthy growth over the years.

The sector is expected to consolidate further and in such a scenario players with a large-scale presence will reap the benefits. Kroger is well positioned for such a move with its chain of stores spanning the whole of America. The awareness of organic food among customers is increasing as is evident from the increasing contribution from this section. The constant innovation in all the areas is one feature, which has kept Kroger at the top, and this feature is going to aid the company further. The most important factor to be considered is that the sector is so vital that even during an economic downturn consumer expense will not vary much. These factors are going to help continuation of the upward price movement of the stock.

Kroger will improve against competitors such as Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is alienating people because they hire illegal aliens from Mexico as well as forcing their employees to work off the clock and not paying them a livable wage with benefits. Wal-Mart also is turning communities off by their forcing communities to build stores where Wal-Mart isn't wanted. Susan

Well positioned to take market share from rivals like Albertsons and is best positioned traditional food retailer to fend off Wal Mart.
