Should be helped by continued rollout of services to partner brokerages, combined with a strengthening housing market.

One Word: Bankruptcy! This company is going nowhere fast. Like many real estate business models that work great in a fast moving market, this one is dead in the water now that the market has normalized. The suite of services, most significant of which is sale of prospective buyer and seller leads, is worth much less to agents than it would cost these agents to generate themselves. This is/was a fad business model that appears to be unable to adjust to the changed market. Unless the company can think of a completely new way of repositioning itself, it is just a matter of time before subscription reductions overpower the staffing cuts.

no way this sector out performs the market, an argument could be made for shorting almost the entire sector. Cramer advises buying puts on about every mortgage and housing play out there. But at the very least will underperofm the market.

Subprime iproblems are working up to Alt-A, market is in shambles and ppl still havent seen how far up the scale the problems are giogn to go.

Problems for real estate are giong to be huge, even if you are trying ot find the one or 2 that will withstand the blasting the market itself will overperform this real estate glut that is appraching for 2 years

Weak market environment for Housevalues. Expect the stock to underperform broader market over the near term.

Real Estate + Internet = Goldmine. Both industries are exploding, with 20%+ returns for the last 10+ years. I keep hearing about a bubble but all I see are profits. Cha-ching.

The lead market is fragmented and cheap. No solid lead generating system is likely to be strong and remain strong for too long. The ability of alternative to scale up and undercut the current 'leaders' like SOLD is too great. SOLD will just continue to lose money and subscribers. The only bright spot is M&A activity possible from big internet players like Yahoo or Google etc... Another likly outcome is that SOLD open real estate offices which mean that their rev modles will get compared to ColdWell backer etc... and again they don't look so good in that sector.

Expect $3.60-$4.10 by end of 2007

A totally useless and ineffectual business model combined with a declining market means only one thing - bankruptcy.

Revenues are down and likely to plummet farther. Revenue growth quarterly YOY is off 14% or so and let's get honest here. Real estate is done. All the Trump wannabes are feeling the pain now and eventually the promises of "spring will be different" will start to fall on deaf ears. They make money basically by conning agents into one of 4 areas

Real Estate Products- We generate the majority of our revenues from the services we provide to real estate agents.

HouseValues: We charge real estate agents a one-time set-up fee and a monthly fixed fee for a monthly bundle of exclusive leads on prospective home sellers, the Market Leader system and training and coaching programs.

JustListed: Like the HouseValues' product, we charge real estate agents a one-time set-up fee and a monthly fixed fee for a monthly bundle of exclusive leads on prospective home buyers, the Market Leader system and training and coaching programs.

HomePages/Showcase: We sell Showcase, an online marketing subscription to real estate professionals that allows them to feature selected listings on our HomePages web site. We charge a monthly fixed fee for this service. We began generating revenue from this product in January 2006.

We generally provide our services under terms of a one-year agreement that then continues on a month-to-month basis until terminated.

Housevalues is kind of a bait and switch item where you ask for a home price and suddenly... you become a sales lead. This kind of market will only lead to more and more bogus "leads" and since we see declining revenues already it's only going to get worse. Let's say that most of these annual contracts will expire by September and then what? Month to month of nothing. Consumers aren't getting free anything they are paying with their time by trying to gather info and instead getting sales pitches. I don't see much growth here so it's a very likely underperformer.

Unless SOLD changes its business model, it's going to disappear. It relies on deceitful marketing tactics, fooling Realtors into thinking they will get great leads and suckering them into paying a monthly fee... until the Realtor realizes that they are paying way too much for no leads and cancels the contract. You can't make money on a bad reputation, which SOLD has with every Realtor I've come across.

HouseValue, Inc provides consumers with free access to information and services that they need throughout the home buying and selling process, through its network of real estate and mortgage websites. Its websites includes HouseValues.com, JustListed.com, TheLoanPage.com and HomePages.com. It generates revenues by providing local real estate and mortgage professionals, the leads, tools and training thereby enabling them to deliver service to homebuyers and sellers.

HouseValue seeks to acquire an increasing share of real estate industry advertising expenditures, as these expenditures continue to migrate online. As a part of its expansion drive, the company launched a website, Homepages, in October 2005, which provides comprehensive information and view of each home in neighborhood. Also the company acquired LoanPage in October 2005 to expand its product offerings in Mortgage Services. However, over the past two quarters the company is witnessing revenue declining mainly on account of lower average revenue per user (ARPU) and lower pricing in some areas.

The housing markets in US is on a downturn, after having a nice run for about ten years, on account of falling prices in some areas, weak new home constructions and mixed mortgage markets. The company further expects its ARPU to decline over the next few quarters, as it wants to incorporate lower priced markets in its customer base and increased pricing pressure in the areas where volumes have slowed down. Endorsing the same, and considering the higher interest rates and stiff competition, which is likely to crimp its revenue and earnings growth, the stock price has hardly any upward potential.

I signed up for the real estate service six months ago and I am completely disappointed at how bad the leads were and how bad the customer service is. Every month I was shorted on leads that I purchased and every month I had to call CS to get a refund. They are hurting and you can smell it on the phone. They are running out of Realtors pockets to dig and their reputation is getting stinky in this part of the country. The business will be lucky to be around another two years at most.
