The big news right now is the F-35 Lightning II. The bad news: it has experienced consistent and constant problems in various areas of flight operation causing production to be slowed while all the "kinks" are worked out. However, the good news is that within the next five years not only is the United States planning on utilizing this new generation of aircraft; but also the United Kingdom and Australia. It's a risky buy if you are focused on the F-35 because of all the problems, but eventually they may get worked out; and when/if they do production will skyrocket, along with the share price. Buy and hold through 2018 but prepare for the possibility of selling for a loss. The risk: buy now and make money when the price of shares fly, after international distribution of the F-35, or wait and jump on the bandwagon when it starts to climb.

The aerospace giants face a number of hurdles in the next few years, not the least of which is reduced government funding. Even without this factor, competition is likely to heat up as new companies like SpaceX and nations like China develop design/test/launch capabilities for spacecraft. The stock already trades at a premium of >17 times past year's earnings. It seems unlikely to grow quickly enough to justify that kind of valuation.

I currently work for Computer Sciences Corp. There are rumors that Lockheed Martin is considering acquiring my company. I currently have shares of CSC in my 401k plan. Should I consider buying more or buy LMT? Any info would be appreciated.

a dirt cheap p/e, a solid dividend, AND they have solved one of the greatest threats to the existence of mankind: cheap desalinated water.

for all the garbage in the news, LM's efforts to bring fresh water to the masses reminds me that there is still a lot of good in the world.

Lockheed is starting to build LNG tanks for marine
uses at a NASA plant in New Orleans. It is also
working on graphene sheet technology which might be
the next big leap in building CNG and LNG tanks.
This would allow thinner, lighter tanks that hold
more fuel and better mpg. It would also hasten
the uses for aircraft, due to lighter stronger tanks. They are already very strong though. This
might be a long term development.
