Used to work for them (20yrs. ago), back when "Mister Marietta" was still in office, and the way the company handled their "LEAN" manufacturing................they were "way ahead of their time"! The gov't contractor, I currently work for, have only started implementing these same processes and philosophies (in manufacturing), within the past 5-years. Soooooo, with all that said and done.....
I firmly believe, "Lockheed-Martin" has good, solid roots (from it's inception) and exercises good judgement, in the direction it's company is going. And not to mention, they put out a "quality" product. Their engineers are one of the best in the country (from the ones that I have met) and their hiring practices are "second-to-none". I have FULL confidence in their abilities and would call them an industry leader!
Only "NASA and JPL" (and a few others on my list...) would be at the top-of-their-game and at the forefront of these new technologies. (YES, I would go to work for them again, if they asked me to--Oyes!).

I believe Lockmart will extend the Raptor production line (not my favourite aircraft, but important for stock performance) and we will see gains in the stocks.
Lockmart is the be-all end-all of big-daddy American A&D concerns. When Eisenhower made his famous farewell speech, it's companies like Lockmart that he had in mind...just to say that it's always going to be around rooting into the deep pockets of Congressional constituencies. Good long term stock.

Lockheed Martin is the single largest defense contractor onis currently developing or in product on the KC-130J, F-22, KC-X tanker, weapons systems, and the Joint Strike Fighter hasn't even lit the afterburners yet.

Just like RTN they are not the focus of the new administration any longer. While they don't solely rely on the gov't for contracts a large chunk of their revenue stream is provided by Uncle Sam. Unless they shift focus more towards the development and implementation of alternative energies or the private sector I don't see how they can keep up former levels of revenue with the new admins in town...

Lockheed Martin, building the overpriced F-22 on the military's dime. They aren't going anywhere. Did I forget to mention the gov't is spending over $12 billion monthly on the military (and the Iraq war).
