This company buys life insurance policies from insureds who no longer need them. They pay a premium over the cash surrender value, so the insured receives more money than the CSV. They resale the the death benefit associated with the policy to investors who are seeking an uncorrelated investment, i.e., it is not tied to interest rates, oil, or stocks. Death and taxes are the only certainities and these policies are protected by major life insurance companies.
From a review of their financials, the growth of this industry is significant, but the one factor not counted on, in my opinion is the reinvestment of the proceeds upon payout of the insured's policy.
So the growth will come from not only accerating sales as more people become familiar with buying life settlements but from reinvestments.
The major draw back of this stock is that it is thinly traded, so prices can swing and it is subject to being in play by short sellers.

Big time growth to come if can overcome regulatory and indutry growing pains. Life settlements will be the next major ABS. Buffett's in. Has gone up recently but still like it here due to low PE.

Those that are looking at LPHI as a plan for terminally ill policy holders are not very well informed. LPHI's target client isn't just the terminally ill. Their prospects include those that by viatical terms are healthy. They have opened the door to a market that has been un-tapped. They are just getting started!

Our aging country will fuel amazing growth for this company. Aging baby boomers want to continue the good life. Kids grown. No need for life insurance anymore. Instant cash to keep going.

This company has an awesome product.
It has cash on hand.
It is the only publicly traded company of its kind.
It has growth.
Stable leadership (15 year old company and most of the directors have been there the whole time).
The uniqueness of this investment class and its relative obscurity (no institutional ownership on the stock!) leave a ton of upside. I'm pretty convinced it will see $1 billion market cap before 5 years.
