LPL Investments is more of a behind the scenes brokerage outifit than most of your big firms. And LPL is the largest brokerage firm the average man (or woman) has never heard of. They are the premier player for independents in the market and there technology and structure lead me to believe that with them going public, they will start pushing more to get there name out there. Once that happens, you will see more of the market moving to LPL.
