It's currently selling for less than book value (equity).

This stock will move when acquisitions are made and value begins to be added.

Selling at barely book value LUK could be a $40 stock within a few years as Rich Handler starts to really make some progress on aligning LUK and JEF. Some rather unusual properties but I wouldn't be surprised if Rich starts to focus less on distressed businesses and some real value plays in good, growing fields. More WEB-type stuff.

a lot of brokers think is a level stock, but take awhile for it to grow. But growing a little right now need more people to get interested.

We will see if they put some of their cash towards some new investments. Also the acquisition of Jefferies hopefully will show some rewards.

They have a reputation for buying cigar butts (as opposed to Berkshire or Markel which buy higher quality stocks), but it is no longer deserved. Their current businesses are capable of earning over 15% ROE. Looking at earnings, National Beef is probably worth 3x book value (earnings are cyclically depressed right now), Berkadia is worth 4x book value, Garcadia is worth 3x book value, Jefferies is worth 1.5x book value, etc.

If one were to make a sum-of-the-parts analysis, stated book value is no where near the true value of the combined firm relative to comparable companies traded in public markets. Perhaps there should be a discount for a conglomerate, but the benefits of tax assets and depreciation from hard assets across industries also has benefits.

As a baby - Berkshire, what LUK is missing in order for its stock to perform beter is media exposure, which Berkshire gets a lot of because of Buffett. I think LUK management is too low key.

I would like this stock a lot more, and probably add it to my real portfolio, if that dividend ever increased. The annual dividend has been $0.25 for three years.
