A job-less recovery is just political speak for "Nothing to see here. Everything is fine. You are happy. Do not look behind the curtain. Ignore that little man Bernake. Be calm."

So no need for man power or Man Power (MAN) it would seem.

First fundamentals wise is that the trend is that unemployment will continue to rise, and will not rise significantly for at least a year. Just look at major corporations they have mostly a hiring freeze in effect, from the names such as Google, Cisco, Microsoft have in effect reduced their workforce.

Valuation wise this stock is way too rich, especially when they don't dominate their markets.
P/E ratio at 24x
Trailing P/E of 35x
P/B at 1.42

Revenues and earnings growth are in marked decline. It's hard to say that this will outperform the market, when over 70% of their business comes from Europe. With the EU with unemployment close to 10%, with some close to 20% fiscal policy does not see a quick turnaround story.

There are numerous competitors, while Manpower does not have a significant lead over it's peers.

They manage labor forces...unemployment is skyrocketing. We aren't talking rocket science. Despite an intelligent trend to transfer HR responsibilities/benefits to outside companies like Manpower, it is doubtful they can convince companies fast enough why their service is helpful. Companies will be trimming costs wherever possible, and this seems likely to be a simple decision for managers who can't see past their noses.

This company seems Dependant on a good economy.

This stock had is coming off an 11 point pop on April 18. It seems that Manpower actually performs better in bear markets, as companies lay off employees and turn to cheap temp labor.

As firms tighten their own payrolls, the natural way to hire employees is through staffing ... Saves on Benies & Welfare, payroll & advertising costs for open positions ... Also allows a company to downsize bloated HR departments ... Good pick for the downturn ...

Manpower Inc with 4400 offices spread across 73 countries and territories, offers a range of services for the entire employment and business cycle, including permanent, temporary and contract recruitment, employee assessment and selection, training, outplacement, outsourcing and consulting services. It meets the needs of about four hundred thousand clients annually across all industry sectors within the small and medium enterprises and multinational corporations. Manpower operates under Manpower, Manpower Professional, Elan, Jefferson Welles and Right Management brands.

All the developing nations are facing an acute shortage of skilled labor. Manpower is well positioned to reap the benefits of the secular growth of staffing industry as its operations are geographically well-diversified. The impact of a stagnating population is already being felt in the European economy as the work force in Europe declines sharply amid a slowing in birth rates and a rise in the number of retirees. Even though China has the largest labor pool in the world, MNC’s operating in China is competing for talented human capital, to meet their growth and profit targets.

Manpower’s subsidiary Jefferson Wells, which offers professional accounting and financial services, has opened a new office at Frankfurt, Germany. The Frankfurt market is ideal because of the concentration of financial services and its central geographic location and this marks a strong physical presence in the European market to expand its international client base. With a strong focus in expanding its international operations in emerging countries, the shares of Manpower Inc are expected to shine among its peers.
