A well known brand in the hotel industry that has solid sales and earnings growth. I think the price is favorable or at least fair. Growth projections are solid and earnings quality looks good.

Continued bifurcation of the consumer market. Their line is very popular among business travelers because points accumulated at Courtyards and standard marriots for work travel easily transfers to J.W.s and Renaissance for pleasure travel.

I like their pillows. They are comfy. Many people will sleep on their pillows and eat orange chickens

The Hospitality Industry will be one of the last to come out of the downturn. As average rates rise over the next three years, income will continue to rise too. Marriott is the largest hotel company and best positioned to outperform their compentition as well as the market.

Everyone is cutting their travel budgets. Staying in cheaper 2 or 3 star hotels is the first people think of doing. That's driving down occupancy and room rates big time. And then there is all that debt coming due... for loans on properties that are underwater (aka they are worth less than the loan). As the commercial real-estate bubble is popping that makes life even harder for our friends at the Marriot.

Oh and did the owners and their families mention that they are all cashing out their stocks? Check finviz.com

Marriott is a good name brand however its customers are getting older there falling out of touch with the younger generation!!!! there "high quality" properties are not very competitive! this is going to be along gradual slide until someone buys them out.

P/E is over 100. EPS dropped over 84% year over year. Yet the stock just keeps on climbing. I say the peak is in at 28 and we are bound to see this stock hit the single digits.

When the overly optimistic FOMC says that household spending will be "constrained" by sluggish income growth, ongoing job losses, lower household wealth, and tight credit AND Shanghai stocks hit a seven-week low, then you know this bear market rally is finally over!

The 1929-1930 equity rally (coming out of The Great Depression) lasted 147 days and the market was up 46%. It has been the same amount of time since the March, 2009 low and we are up about the same percentage. It’s déjà vu (paramnesia), so prepare for a drop of about the same percentage (85%).
