DHA powder is too expensive to be acepted by food manufacturers. DHA oil is not stable enough to be used in most food applications. Martek's oil will perform only as a niche product in some vegetarian foods.

They make things from genetically engineered algae. Their big product is the DHA and ARA found in baby formula. With the rest of the world developing this market should grow. They also make Omega 3 fatty acids or fish oil for short. Big emerging product to treat high cholesterol and blood pressure. They recently inked a deal with BP to develop algae to produce biofuels. They are near their 5 year low even though earnings have grown by near 20% the last two years. Great value play.

Robert William's (Oxford Club Editor) pick. The company owns the baby formula industry with no competition in sight. They're expanding into adult food catagories also.

Although the fish source is better for you (you need EPA as much as DHA but this is another story all together)--this pond scum nonsense will find its way into most every food...Limited nutritional benefit but plenty of profit benefit. Investing is all about perception....

Just not enough fish to go around--their scum product will BOOM!
