Martek Biosciences Corp. (NASDAQ:MATK)

This is a company that I have been watching for some time, and I have been concerned if this company could handle the growth and whether it could take advantage of being out front in a growth opportunity. Now I think the answer is that it can and that it can.

DHP derived from algae is more costly to produce than that from fish. The market has already been fully penetrated for DHP, and adult sales show very little in terms of growth prospects for the company. The company many have decent cash flow, but the cash is not headed towards R&D.

The nutritional oils it makes are added to baby formulas, and they are being adopted by more countries. It has signed contracts with companies in Spain and China, and is trying to find uses outside the baby formula markket. I am looking ahead a few years, and like the possibilities.

Producing necessary oils in a time of declining fish stocks and increasing interest in vegetarianism.

Omega 3 from seaweed. Oil from seaweed ?

My favorite low-cost biotech. Their supplements will soon be in everything from baby formula to senior nutrition drinks. Columbia, MD company makes money and is bargain-priced. Also ripe for a takeover by a big PhRMA or food company.

Matk should get earnings boost from fish oil sales increases from evan more health benifits from Omega 3 in latest studies.

Consistant Development

Since this company is geard to new food developments, I think that more and more consumers will hear more about this company, and therfore invest more in their products and services. The stock trend for this is climbing also, so it's a good idea to invest now while it's rising.

Martek is a great company. Profits are up. The next couple of weeks will be a winner if you choose this stock.

Looking at numbers I see it's doing it's fair share and pulling it's own weight, since it's in a good range. Don't know much about the company but I know biosciences are heading up to the top of the peoples minds and I like betting on the unknown. It seems like a company to take a chance on.
