Pretty much dumbfounded as to why this has tanked the past week or two but in the near future it WILL see $3+. Legitimate good press everywhere you look, every other day even and the thing is still sucking seaweed....

Whoa! Here is my ten bagger. Sales up, Profit margins up, Contracts up. High quality product line with the company's new direction towards consumer items. The gaming industry should continue to expand as young players demand the most form thier gaming experiences. The long term and heavy debt issue should ease as income levels improve even further but watch out if the management goes on a M&A spree.

Should be another great qtr.

Wish I had bought in the .40's or .50's, but I'll take what I can get. I think this one's got some room to run. I own several controllers and other game pieces they make and am very happy with them.

UltraLong commented positively on this stock a little over a year ago. He said it would be $1.10 by the following Christmas and you know what? He nailed it.
I bought probably too many shares at .37 so my opinions are totally self-serving. However, having owned this stock for about a year and a half, I can share some insights.

Mad Catz right now is completely different than it was even a year and a half ago.
As a company, MadCatz has gone from a "Made in China" novelty shop to a poor man's Logitech in the blink of an eye. They purchased Tritton, who makes expensive headphones for video game maniacs and you know what? The damn things sell. Don't take my word for it, go to GameStop of Amazon.com and look at bestsellers. They unveiled Eclipse, a sleek mouse and keyboard set up that doesn't sell a lot but looks and feels nice, real nice for a company like MadCatz. They teamed up with MTV games to make the guitars, etc for Rock Band 3 and I haven't read a single bad review yet. The big money maker in the Rock Band deal for MadCatz might not even be the guitar, but rather, the keyboard and keyboard stand. Both the guitar and keyboard are top sellers on all 3 major platforms and if you check out GameStop and Amazon, they're often sold out.
As a stock, MadCatz is currently profitable at 7 cents per share times and trades around a buck. This was a great deal when the stock spent all year in the 40 cent range, but is only mediocre at a dollar. However, given how expensive all their new stuff is, not to mention how well MadCatz stuff is selling this season, you can expect profits to go up.
Last year, Modern Warfare was all the rage and MadCatz was making all the aftermarket peripherals for it. The game was a hit and MadCatz made money. This year it's Black Ops which is an even bigger hit and MadCatz is right back in business. This alone would have me confident that MadCatz was going to break even for the year.
The wild card this year is RockBand. MadCatz doesn't make replacement accessories for RockBand like they do with Modern Warfare and Black Ops, MadCatz makes the only accessories and they are all expensive. Why does expensive matter? Because when it's made out of plastic, big or small costs about the same to make, so expensive and hot selling mean potentially promising profits. Profits that are in addition to the Black Ops part of this year's business.
Personally, I think the company should branch out into making video games which feature all sorts of musical instruments to teach kids how to actually play the clarinet or acoustic guitar or saxophone. They could call it High School Band and sell it to every parent in the world. If they were to do this, MadCatz could become a stock pickers dream come true.
As it is, they still have lots of debts to pay, so even a great quarter will only help them get back on solid ground, needing more big quarters to enjoy big gains. I see them making .20 for the quarter and .25 for the year. UltraLong has them at 1.10 by Christmas and I have them at $2.10 after they announce 3rd quarter (their fiscal year ends in March) earnings in the first week of February.
Great job MadCatz, congratulations to everyone who hung in there and good luck to all you Motley Fools!

Mad Catz is rapidly growing and a very profitable company. I like that the CEO has been buying large chunks of the stock. It's good sign the company is headed in the right direction.
